The courageous heroes who embarked upon their Hero’s Journey into their Greatness were given an assignment this week: Write the rough draft of your Definite Major Purpose. It’s the declaration of your Dharma, your passion and purpose. It’s the answer to the question, “What do I want?”
So what differentiates those who ask this question, and live lives of quiet desperation, and those who ask this question, and live lives joyfully expressing their unique gifts as they powerfully impact their communities and the world?
The One-Two Power Punch! Thought and Habit.
Before we establish a habit, we must think! In 1.4, Haanel declares “…we must ‘be’ before we can ‘do’, and we can ‘do’ only to the extent which we ‘are’, and what we ‘are’ depends upon what we ‘think’.”
Thought is the beginning point of everything in all of creation. Thought starts a concept down the path to manifestation.
But thought is not enough. We’ve got to follow that first strike against mediocrity with the second strike which the Wizard of Og defines as the foundation to all success: Habit. In Scroll One, he declares “In Truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to all success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure.” Therefore, a key to success is to “form good habits and become their slave.” We strengthen and refine our habit muscle by driving bad habits from our lives and replacing them with habits that bring us closer to success. Of course, in order to know which habits must go, and which habits are to replace those that go, we must, first, think.
Mastering the One-Two Power Punch builds a solid foundation upon which we build the life that arises from listening to the song of our hearts.
What do I want?
For almost everyone in the Master Keys, this is the first time they have dedicated themselves to figuring this out. Two years ago, I wrote my first DMP. It is a living document. I worked on it again this week. As a Master Guide, I am privileged to do the sacred work of serving men and women in their journey to their hearts, in their daring act of defining exactly what they want. I am in awe. Each has earned their wings, like eaglets perched on the edge of the nest, high above the canyon, and leaping off the edge, allowing the air to carry them to heights unimaginable to ducks.
“What Do I Want?”
Train for the game. Master the One-Two Power Punch. Skills matter.
So, Hats Off to all the heroes training their dragons and slaying the lies which have kept them small. This is your time! Rejoice that you are moving into your magnificence. It’s an honor to accompany you.
